People make it a habit of having strange quirks and pet peeves. Most of the time they’ll seem like a St. Bernard pup, totally calm and happy-go-lucky, but then you do something seemingly nonchalant and they start absolutely losing it, going bananas.
Speaking of bananas, today’s story is one about an uncle going from 0 to 100 in an instant, accusing his grand-niece and her parents of being thieves, even going so far as telling them to get out of the house. All over a… banana.

People occasionally just lose it for seemingly minuscule things, going off at anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby at the moment

A woman shared her story of going to a BBQ at her elderly uncle’s place, who doesn’t have a good track record of being a nice man

While waiting for the food, her daughter, 6 Y.O., took a banana from a fruit bowl to snack on and the uncle went absolutely ballistic

He cussed the child and her parents out, saying that they’re all thieves and he may even call the police about it, but the poster didn’t mince words and clapped back

My parents are 78 and 83 and they wouldn't dream of treating a 6 year old like this. Using their generation or age as an excuse to be a bullying co*ckwomble, intimidating a child is ridiculous. Serves him right.

Exactly. Generational difference my @$$. The aunt is an enabler. Oh well, he'll be the old fart bitterly complaining that a 6-year-old ruined his life and "when I was six, my gramps beat me for *looking* at a banana and then called the cops and I spent years - YEEEERS - doing hard labour, fighting off rats the size of tigers for bread crumbs, and the guards would dangle banana peels in front of me and laugh and say 'Who's conspiring to steal bananas now, MWAHAHAAAAA!!!!'"

If this was a new thing, I'd want him to be tested for dementia. But as it is not new, it sounds like he is a bully and jerk. People have the right to choose whether they want to be around such behaviour. He was not humiliated. What happened is called natural consequences. If you behave this way to people, then they will not want to spend time with you. It's very simple.

What's funny is he humiliated the child first. His wife is really delusional.

Aside from the little girl being traumatized, I would have absolutely said, "call the police, I'll wait". Maybe the police telling him he's in the wrong would have had more effect than his family "humiliating" him by leaving for his overreaction. What a jerk. Let's normalize having boundaries with family members- they don't get a pass, or automatic respect and affection, just because they share a familial tie.

Maybe he'd try to fight the cops and wind up in jail himself. 🤔
