Movie: Encanto

Who Is She? Forget being the youngest child, imagine being the only member of your family who doesn't have a gift of magic. Mirabel may not have a gift in Encanto, but her strengths are empathy and emotional intelligence — which are their own brand of magic. Despite not having any abilities of her own, Mirabel fights to save her family's connection to magic. She even comforts her younger cousin Antonio when he worries he won't develop any gifts. However, she does have a somewhat mystical connection to the Casa Madrigal house, so at least that's something.

How She Pulls Off Her Frames:Not only do the glasses perfectly frame her face, but the fun pop of green color accents her quirky wardrobe and short curly hair. What she lacks in magic she makes up with color coordination.

Edna Mode

Movie:The Incredibles 1&2

Who Is She? An icon. She's an ICON. Edna designs the super suits in The Incredibles movies. She's a no-nonsense tough lady, and frankly, all of the Supers would probably be dead or discovered if not for Edna's ingenuity. Sure, Edna has a bit of an ego on her, but it's deserved. She works with families like the Parrs to tailor (literally) their powers with their suits. She'll absolutely overrule their requests for simplicity if she thinks their suits need updated features.

How She Pulls Off Her Frames:Edna looks like she should be running a runway in Paris and her glasses ensure that she doesn't miss a single errant thread. No notes.

Roz

Movie:Monsters, Inc.

Who Is She? Roz isn't particularly known for her smile or a cheery demeanor, but you can't help loving her anyway. She works for Monsters, Inc., the organization responsible for eliciting the screams used as a power source for the city. Roz's role is much more integral than you might guess throughout most of the movie. She's introduced as a key master and administrator for one of the Scare Floors, and we see her in an office capacity most of the time.

How She Pulls Off Her Frames:Okay, listen. The classic cat-eye glasses are librarian and secretary staples for a reason. We wish we could pull off these chained glasses.

Milo James Thatch

Movie:Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Who Is He? This good-looking nerd is a Smithsonian linguist and cartographer on a mission to find the lost city of Atlantis back in 1914. He's determined to protect the lost city from a money-hungry Rourke, who wants the Heart of Atlantis - the power source that keeps the city alive - for nefarious purposes. Of course, Milo falls for an Atlantean named Kida, and he doesn't want to leave the magical land he worked so hard to discover.

How He Pulls Off His Frames:Milo has that perfect combo of nerdy and dapper that makes him impossible to dislike. His glasses are the perfect fit to balance his aesthetic.

Carl Fredricksen

Movie:Up

Who Is He? Yup, a helium balloon salesman is apparently a job, and it's a lot less annoying than randos calling you about the extended warranty of a car (or flying house) you don't own. Carl is a grieving widower who perpetually lives in the moment of his wife's death, unable to move on. As a result, he puts on an angry persona to avoid letting anyone in. His wife died just before they were able to fulfill their dream destination. So, Carl attaches a bunch of balloons to the house to honor her. Along the way, he meets a young boy named Russell who helps him learn to love again.

How He Pulls Off His Frames:The glasses are almost half the size of his face, so they're effectively his softer side when he puts on his “Old man yells at clouds” persona. There's also a deeper meaning to the glasses, as squares represent the past in Up.

Honey Lemon

Movie:Big Hero 6

Who Is She?We don't know as much about Honey Lemon as we do the other characters in Big Hero 6. She's an easily excitable Latina chemistry genius who doesn't let her smarts impact her extroverted nature. She also likes a bit of excitement and art on top of her chemistry set. Honey Lemon joins robotics whiz Hiro and the robot Baymax in his pursuit to take down his brother's killer.
