Two-Week Grocery Haul and Menu Plan (1)

I decided it would be a fun challenge to plan and shop for two week’s worth of meals. The sales were really good the day that I hit the store with my large list, and I was pleased with how low I was able to keep my total grocery bill! We are currently beginning the second week of this menu plan. I had to pick up milk and some fresh fruit for breakfast this week, but that was it!

Watch my grocery haul below to see what I picked up and how much I spent. The actual menu plan with links to all the recipes is below!

  2. Like you, going to the grocery store is a favorite activity of mine! Hunts Pasta Sauce is my favorite and I have tried them all. For the price and the flavor, I like Hunts. I also like that it is in a can and not a jar. If you have ever had one of the jars fall and break, it is not fun to clean up!! Another blogger, can’t think who at the moment, told me about Hunts.

    1. Tomatoes are one of my top 5 favorite foods…so I like spaghetti sauce A LOT. 😊 I can eat it right out of the jar, all by itself. Hunts isn’t bad, but I prefer Ragu, Bertolli and some of those other expensive ones. 😊

  3. So neat to see your menu. It looks like we menu plan VERY similarly. I always like to see what others are doing.

  4. I’m so excited you did this!! What a good challenge. I’ve been thinking about doing this myself. I love to grocery shop, but doing small/medium shops every week gets tiresome…

    1. It was fun to try! If I made a habit of doing two-week shops, I would start shopping at Costco again. Their packaging is made for stocking up!

  5. You did really well! I have tried to shop for two weeks at a time but I always fail in epic proportions because my kids are eating beasts!

    1. Thanks, Amanda! I don’t think I could get by with doing this all the time, but it worked for the weeks I needed it to work!

  6. I meal plan/grocery shop for two weeks at a time and it’s so nice! Sometimes I have to pick up some fruits and veggies for the 2nd week in a separate trip so that they don’t go bad before we get to them, but other than that I find it saves me money to go every two weeks vs. every week. Do you think you’ll start grocery shopping every two weeks or go back to every week? And do y’all just eat the chicken sausage ‘as is’ or do y’all cut it up, put it on a bun, etc.? I’ve thought of buying it several times before, but I always hesitate because chicken sausage just seems like a ‘different’ (in a good way 😉 ) sort of meat and I don’t know if it’s better in another dish or by itself.

    1. I will go back to shopping once a week – I really enjoy grocery shopping and would miss it too much! 🙂 For the chicken sausage – you’re right, it does taste totally different than turkey sausage. I like to slice it and fry it in some olive oil. It’s also good if you take it out of the casing and cook it in crumbles like ground chicken. That’s good in a pasta dish.

  7. Yay! I love going grocery shopping every 2 weeks. It (usually) saves me time, and money too! I started doing a monthly menu plan last month that way i only have to sit and figure out meals once, but can tweak halfway through if needed (like if something is a super good deal at the store or if i find a recipe I’m dying to try). It definitely made things easier when life got busy!

    1. I can definitely see how it would save time and money – so long as I’m able to do a good job of planning ahead.
